During 3-4 May 2007 was held at Sinaia, in the
Roman Office of Legal Metrology, the 23-Meeting of the Committee WELMEC.
WELMEC (Organization for European Cooperation in Legal Metrology) was founded in 1990 in Switzerland by representatives of the national legal metrology of the member countries of the European Union and member countries of EFTA (European Free Trade Association).
The main objectives of WELMEC are addressing issues of a legal metrology, the development of trust between the European legal metrology, promoting actions for the elimination of barriers to trade by means of measurement.
WELMEC developed by the working groups, guides used by EU members states in the conformity assessment and market surveillance, according to the requirements of EU directives in New Approach, for means of measurement.
Meeting in Sinaia, was signed by Romania and Bulgaria,
"Memorandum of Understanding", the document by which these countries, represented by the national metrology (BRML) and (SAMTS), become members with full rights of WELMEC .
